MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – An 8-year-old boy is recovering after being accidentally shot in the head on Thursday afternoon.

Meeker County Sheriff Jeff Norlin says the boy was shot by his older brother.

NewsRadio 830 WCCO’s Susie Jones Reports

“We found that the 8 year old had been struck or grazed in the head by a bullet that had been shot into the ground by his older brother.” Norlin said.

He says the accident was preventable.

“And you know that’s why we have training and laws relating to matters like this. And it’s an example of why you know some of these laws relate to access and unsecured loaded weapons and weapons that can be easily loaded and get into the wrong hands,” he said.

Norlin said the boy was taken to Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis with a laceration in the temple area, but he said he doesn’t have a condition on him.
