MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – James and Wendy Ober were sentenced on Thursday to serve 120 months in prison for their role in a “sophisticated mortgage fraud scheme” involving fake documents – including phony divorce decrees and the forged signature of a Minnesota judge.
James and Wendy Ober, of Hudson, Wis., are owners of Mortgage Planners, Inc. They were charged with racketeering along with the two others involved in this “new wave” of mortgage fraud following the housing crisis.
The fraudulent loans were valued at more than $6 million.
