MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – It was the best gift a kid could get.

On Friday, kindergartener Ben Palmer got a surprise visit from his dad, Army Sgt. Nicholas Palmer.

WCCO-TV photojournalist Pete Neuswanger captured the homecoming.

Palmer has been in Afghanistan since January. Neighbors are planning a huge party for the Palmers.
