MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 26-year-old Army Staff Sgt. who attended Minnesota State University at Mankato has died in Afghanistan.
Kyle Osborn grew up in Lafayette, Ind. but went to school in Mankato. He met his wife Maggie at MNSU, who is a graduate from Waconia High School.
Osborn was killed on September 13 in Muger, Afghanistan after insurgents attacked his unit with rocket propelled grenades and small arms.
He was based in Vicenza, Italy and was only six weeks into his first deployment.
Osborn’s mother lives in Blackduck, Minn. He will be buried in Indiana next to his grandfather.
Kyle’s sister-in-law, Alisha Klasson, says he was an unforgettable man.
“He was a ranger and a brave wonderful man that will be sorely missed and never forgotten by anyone who knew or even met him,” Klasson said.
Osborn’s funeral arrangements are pending.
