Semi Destroyed By Fire After Crash In Western Wis.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A semi-truck was destroyed by fire after hitting a guard rail in a construction zone early Friday morning in western Wisconsin, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Authorities said the accident happened at about 2:05 a.m. on westbound Interstate 94 near Eau Claire. The State Patrol said nobody was killed or hurt in the crash.

When authorities got to the scene, the driver of the truck said he dropped something while reaching for an item, then hit a guard rail in the construction zone before hitting cement barriers. It came to rest of the centerline of the interstate and became engulfed in flames.

Authorities say the truck was the only vehicle involved and the driver was not hurt. That portion of the highway is currently closed and won't reopen until the area is cleared.

The Eau Claire County Sheriff's Office is assisting the Wisconsin State Patrol at the scene.
