Gene Altstatt grew up in Mahtomedi and went to St. Thomas academy, which gave him interest in the military.
After high school, he got his four year degree from St. Thomas College, now the University of St. Thomas.
Gene joined the infantry in 1968, which launched a 23-year career in the military reserves. He retired in 1991 in the Army Reserves as a Major. He has been involved in Post 507 with the American Legion in Mahtomedi, and enjoys continuing to service the community.
Gene has been in the financial services industry since 1973, and runs a successful business called Altstatt Financial Strategies.
He lives in Mahtomedi with his wife, Marcia.
