MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A chain-reaction crash Saturday afternoon in St. Louis Park left an elderly woman dead at the scene, police say.
The crash happened on eastbound Highway 7 around 3:15 p.m. Police say a four-door sedan going east rear-ended an SUV, setting off a series of crashes involving five cars.
The crash’s only victim, whose name has not been released, was in the backseat of the sedan. No others involved required medical attention, police said.
Authorities closed the eastbound lanes of Highway 7 following the crash. They reopened to traffic shortly before 6 p.m.
The crash is still under investigation, and authorities don’t think drugs or alcohol played a factor in the incident.
