MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – One person was killed when a vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree in Scott County on Wednesday, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities said the crash happened on the ramp from eastbound Highway 101 to southbound County Road 21 in Shakopee. The State Patrol said a 1992 Honda Accord was driving on the ramp from Highway 101 to County Road 101, left the roadway and hit a tree.

Two people were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. Authorities identified the victim as Trachanda L. Hamilton, 26 of Shakopee. A 4-year-old boy in the car suffered minor injuries.

Authorities are investigating what caused the vehicle to lose control and leave the road. The Minnesota State Patrol is being assisted by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and Shakopee Police.
