MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The captain of the replica sailing ship, “HMS Bounty,” is still missing and a search is underway with airplanes and ships.
The ship was built for the 1962 film “Mutiny on the Bounty” and went down off the coast of North Carolina yesterday.
Fourteen crew members were rescued, including John Svendsen who grew up in Minnesota.
His parents live in Nisswa.
Another crew member was found hours later, but she died at the hospital.
