MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A house fire in Bemidji Township claimed the life of one victim early Friday morning, the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office said.

Chief Deputy Ernie Beitel said authorities got word of the house fire just before 2:45 a.m. When deputies arrived at the scene, the 1000 block of Tyler Avenue Northwest, they found the home engulfed in flames.

After firefighters knocked down the flames, investigators found the victim inside.

The victim’s identity will be released by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office and after family members have been notified, Beitel said.

Bemidji Township is located just east of Bemidji.
