DENVER (AP) — Senior forward Chris Knowlton scored his first three goals of the season Saturday to lead Denver to a 6-1 Western Collegiate Hockey Association win over St. Cloud State.

Knowlton had a goal in each period for the Pioneers (5-1-0, 3-1-0), who were shut out by the Huskies (5-3-0, 3-1-0) in Friday’s series opener. Knowlton also had an assist.

Nick Shore, David Makowski and Matt Tabrum added goals for Denver. Juho Olkinuora made 20 saves in nets for the Pioneers.

Denver outshot the Huskies 33-21.

St. Cloud State goalie Ryan Faragher was pulled in the second period after making nine saves. Rasmus Reijola made 16 stops.

Cory Thorson had the only SCSU goal.
