DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — Election officials in Duluth say they have scrambled to replace a bad ballot that was briefly supplied to voters in one precinct.

The ballot listed a Democratic state lawmaker whose name had been removed after he decided not to seek re-election.

The lawmaker, Kerry Gauthier dropped his bid after he was found to have had a rest-stop sexual encounter with a 17-year-old boy. He was replaced by Erik Simonson.

Duluth city clerk Jeff Cox says the correct ballots were delivered to the precinct about an hour after polls opened. Cox says he’s not sure how the error occurred but he believes it’s the only precinct to have gotten bad ballots.

Cox says voters who got the bad ballot could write in Simonson’s name.
