DNR Reminds Hunters Of Wolf License Deadline

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- The Department of Natural Resources is reminding hunters and trappers who were selected by lottery for Minnesota's late wolf hunting season to buy their licenses by Thursday or they'll be sold to others.

Any unclaimed late-season licenses will be offered starting at noon Monday on a first-come, first-served basis to lottery applicants who lost.

The DNR has sold more than 1,000 of the 1,800 available late-season hunting licenses and more than 500 of the 600 available trapping licenses. The late season begins Nov. 24.

The early season ends Sunday. Hunters have taken about 120 wolves so far, and are close to reaching the harvest target of 58 wolves in the northeast zone. The total harvest for the two seasons is capped at 400 wolves.
