ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – Gov. Mark Dayton has ordered all U.S. and Minnesota flags to fly at half-staff on Wednesday in honor of a local Marine who died while on active duty.
Marine Lance Corporal Dale W. Means, 23 and a 2007 graduate of New Prague High School, died Nov. 18 when the convoy he was riding in hit an improvised explosive device during combat operations in Afghanistan. Means died in the incident.
Means enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in January 2011 and was stationed in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was deployed to Afghanistan back in July.
Dayton has ordered flags to fly at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday. Means is survived by his wife, Andrea; mother, DaleLyn Means; father John Means; sister, JoLyn Means; grandparents, in-laws, family and friends.
