ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – Authorities say one person was hospitalized after am apartment fire early Wednesday morning in St. Paul.

Crews received a report of a house fire on the 600 block of East 3rd Street at about 1:30 a.m. When authorities arrived, there was a fire on the first floor of a three-story apartment building. Authorities said the initial report was of smoke in the hallway and it was contained to the living room of one unit on the first floor of the building.

Authorities say the fire broke a living room window, and crews had to break a bedroom window to get inside the complex.

The resident who lives in the unit where the fire happened was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation but it expected to be fine. Other residents in the complex have already been allowed back inside. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
