RED WING, Minn. (WCCO) – The Minnesota State Patrol is still investigating the only fatal crash of the weekend during a large snow storm that wreaked havoc on the state’s roads.

The crash, which authorities said involved a semi-truck, happened at about 12:27 p.m. Sunday on Highway 61 at Wacouta road near Red Wing. The Minnesota State Patrol said at least one person was killed in the crash.

Authorities said the semi, a 2006 Freightliner, was heading southbound on Highway 61 when it lost control and hit two vehicles, a Lincoln pick-up truck and a Toyota 4-Runner. The two vehicles the semi hit were both in the northbound lanes.

The victim in the crash has not yet been identified. The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the State Patrol with the investigation.
