WATERTOWN, S.D. (AP) — A 35-year-old Watertown man has been sentenced to 45 days in jail on charges he took a video without consent.

Codington County deputy states attorney Patrick McCann tells KWAT radio that Fredrick Strasser recorded a 23-year-old woman through closed circuit TV over several months while she was Strasser’s roommate.

McCann says Strasser placed a video camera in a vent in the bathroom and recorded several tapes before being discovered by another roommate.

Judge LeAnn Pierce sentenced Strasser to 45 days in jail, a $500 fine and restitution of $1,000 to the victim for rent she had paid.

A lawyer for Strasser did not immediately return a message seeking comment.
