MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — With two games left in the season, Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder decided he couldn’t wait another minute to marry fiancee Samantha Steele.
Ponder and Steele wed on Monday in Hudson, Wis., according to The Leader-Telegram. The newspaper said they were married by Court Commissioner Stephen Dunlap in St. Croix County Court.
Ponder confirmed they were dating in October and their engagement was announced on Monday, Dec. 3. This is the first marriage for both.
Steele, 27, is a reporter for ESPN’s College GameDay. Ponder, 24, is preparing for the final two games in the Vikings regular season — this week in Houston and next week home against the Green Bay Packers.
Steele joked on her Twitter account about having comedian Jim Gaffigan be part of their wedding, which turned out to be the following day.
Is it inappropriate to publicly beg @jimgaffigan to come to our wedding @cponder7 ? Is it inappropriate for him to officiate? Ring bearer?—

Steele also posted a response to everyone’s reaction to their secret nuptials on Wednesday.
