VADNAIS HEIGHTS, Minn. (WCCO) – Jennifer Ehnstrom, 21, of Chisago City, is dead after she got out of her vehicle following an accident on Wednesday night.
The crash happened at 11 p.m. Wednesday off of I-35 in Vadnais Heights.
Ehnstrom’s car hit a pickup truck, and her car ended up straddling the center lane. That’s when she and the other driver got out of their vehicles. Then a third car, swerving to avoid the accident, hit and killed Ehnstrom.
Lt. Eric Roeske, of the Minnesota State Patrol, says that if you’re in an accident, try to drive your car to the side of the highway.
“If the vehicle is disabled and it can’t be moved, and it is in a dangerous place, then you need to get away from that vehicle and into a place of safety as quickly as possible,” he said.
The State Patrol says the winter season sees more accidents. Road conditions at the scene were described as wet.
At the Chisago City School where Ehnstrom graduated from, she will be missed.
“She was the type of a kid who always had a smile on her face, was always respectful, and was always a lot of fun to have on the physical campus. She was a great person all around,” said Tracy Quarnstrom, Director of the Wolf Creek Online School.
The State Patrol says the accident is still under investigation and it’s too early to tell if any of the drivers involved will be charged.
