ST. PAUL (WCCO) — The aptly named Bread & Chocolate in St. Paul is home to WCCO viewer’s favorite hot chocolate.
“A lot of people tell me it’s just one of the best things they’ve ever had,” said Loma Monahan of Bread & Chocolate. “It’s the cocoa that makes the difference.”
And it should. Bread & Chocolate imports their cocoa straight from Switzerland.
“Who knows chocolate better than the Swiss? So you might as well go to the source,” she said.
They mix the cocoa with cane sugar and create something that’d make even the Swiss Miss blush.
A lot of coffee shops use a chocolate syrup, which is sweet enough to make your teeth ache.
But that doesn’t mean this cup of cocoa is bland — not by a long shot.
“Because of the richness of the cocoa, and the chocolate in it, it’s really got a good flavor,” she said. “It’s almost like drinking a liquid candy bar.”
And don’t skip out on the homemade whipped cream.
With some additional cocoa sprinkled on top, it might be the best part.
