MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A fire at a motel in northern Minnesota displaced as many as eight people on Christmas Eve, according to the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities received a report of a fire at about 8:35 p.m. Monday at the Royal Pines Motel in Carlton, a small town just south of Cloquet. There were eight people staying at the motel at the time of the fire, and they’ve been moved to the Golden Gate Motel in Scanlon. None of the eight people was hurt in the blaze.

Authorities said the cause of the fire is still under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office. The Carlton Fire Department was assisted at the scene by eight other fire departments, the Cloquet Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol.
