Suicidal Man Prompts Evacuation Of St. Cloud Motel

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (WCCO) — A suicidal 20-year-old man prompted the evacuation of a Motel 6 in St. Cloud Wednesday afternoon, according to St. Cloud Police.

At 12:32 p.m., police officers responded to a suicidal person complaint in the 900 block of 11th Avenue North. A family member had received communication from the suicidal man, who said he wanted to end his life and that he had a firearm.

Through investigation, police located the man’s vehicle at a Motel 6 in Waite Park at 1:41 p.m. He was believed to be staying in one of the rooms.

Due to the nature of the call, an evacuation of the motel was conducted.

Through negotiation, the man exited the motel peacefully, was taken into custody and later taken to St. Cloud Hospital.

No weapon was located.
