Vikings' K Walsh Earns 3rd Special Teams Honor

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The third time's a charm for the Minnesota Vikings rookie kicker Blair Walsh, who has once again been named the NFC's Special Teams Player of the Week.

Walsh is now the first rookie since the Chicago Bears' Devin Hester to earn the award three times in one season, the team announced Wednesday. No Vikings rookie has done the same.

The honor comes after Walsh's Week 17 performance against the Green Bay Packers, which sent the Vikings to the playoffs with a 29-yard field goal as time expired. He also connected on a 54-yard and 36-yard field goal in the 37-34 win.

Walsh earned the other awards after his Week 1 performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars and his Week 15 performance against the St. Louis Rams.

Walsh is 10-10 on field goals of 50-plus yards this season, which is a NFL record.
