MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak and the city’s new police chief are planning to release crime statistics for 2012 — as well as outline their public-safety priorities for this year.
Rybak and Police Chief Jane Harteau are holding a news conference Friday morning to share details.
Preliminary statistics released last week show violent crime went up slightly in Minneapolis in 2012 — after 2011 saw the lowest level of violent crime since 1983.
Even with the slight uptick, authorities said, 2012 violent crime numbers were still among the lowest in decades.
