ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) — Dash cam video has been released from the night two St. Paul police officers were ambushed with gunfire.

Officer Daniel King crashed into a dumpster after being shot and seriously wounded.

King and his partner, Brian Wanschura, were responding to a reported home burglary back in October.

Another surveillance camera in the parking lot of the Hope Community Academy shows the squad car turning in.

That’s when Chue Xiong opened fire, shooting King.

Wanschura rolled out of the squad car and starts shooting at Xiong, who was killed.

A grand jury determined police were justified in shooting Xiong.

Officer King is still recovering from gunshot wounds, and has not returned to work yet.
