MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — No one was seriously injured after a commercial truck collided with a light rail train Tuesday afternoon in downtown Minneapolis, according to Metro Transit.

Metro Transit’s John Siqveland says the collision took place at 1:35 p.m. at Fifth Avenue.

The driver of the truck wasn’t injured. One passenger was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center for minor injuries — he walked to the ambulance under his own power, said Siqveland.

No customers were on the light rail, and the operator appears to be fine, Siqveland said. He added that the operator will undergo drug and alcohol testing, according to standard procedure.

By 2:30 p.m., trains began operating again.

“We thank our customers for their patience as trains resume their normal schedules,” said Siqveland.
