THOMSON TOWNSHIP, Minn. (WCCO) – Police say a homeowner managed to stop a home invasion in progress and hold the alleged burglar until officers could arrive.

The incident happened in Thomson Township in Carlton County early Thursday afternoon. Police received a call from the homeowner.

When they arrived, they saw that the invader, later identified as 44-year-old William Peter Lushenko, had been detained. He was taken into custody for first-degree burglary, third-degree assault, interference with a 911 call and criminal damage to property.

He has not yet been charged.

The Carlton and St. Louis County sheriff’s offices and the Hibbing Police Department are investigating the incident.
