MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Sophomore guard Rachel Banham made history Monday night, but it wasn’t enough as the Gophers women’s basketball team lost 91-86 to Illinois in Big 10 Conference play at Williams Arena.
Banham led all scorers with 37 points and notched her 1,000th career point in the loss. It dropped the Gophers to 13-8 overall and 2-5 in conference play. Banham also tied a career-high with five 3-pointers and added four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Micaëlla Riché contributed a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and freshman Shayne Mullaney pitched in 11 points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal.
The Gophers host Michigan at 7 p.m. Thursday.
