MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Sophomore guard Rachel Banham made history Monday night, but it wasn’t enough as the Gophers women’s basketball team lost 91-86 to Illinois in Big 10 Conference play at Williams Arena.

Banham led all scorers with 37 points and notched her 1,000^th career point in the loss. It dropped the Gophers to 13-8 overall and 2-5 in conference play. Banham also tied a career-high with five 3-pointers and added four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Micaëlla Riché contributed a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and freshman Shayne Mullaney pitched in 11 points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal.

The Gophers host Michigan at 7 p.m. Thursday.
