MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 48-year-old woman from Inver Grove Heights is in a Duluth hospital after being thrown from her snowmobile on Sunday in northern Minnesota, authorities say.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a snowmobile accident at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday on the Voyageur Snowmobile Trail, which is several miles east of Crane Lake. When authorities arrived, they discovered that a woman was traveling westbound on the trail when she lost control of her snowmobile, was thrown from it and hit a tree.

The woman was airlifted from the scene and taken to a Duluth hospital. Authorities said there have been no other updates on her condition, and what caused her to crash is still under investigation.
