OAKDALE, Minn. (WCCO) – One man is in custody after randomly firing a handgun at multiple locations in Oakdale Monday night, killing a 9-year-old child and injuring two others.
According to Oakdale Police, a 34-year-old man fired multiple shots in multiple locations, including at cars near the intersection of Hadley Avenue North and 7th Street North. A 9-year-old child was shot in the head and killed. The child’s mother was shot in the arm, eventually seeking help at a nearby Rainbow Foods.
A woman was also shot in the hand, but her identity and condition are currently unavailable.
The shooter, an Oakdale resident, did not resist arrest and police say he’s not a threat to the public at this point. They are currently investigating the multiple crime scenes.
