MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The St. Paul Police Department is releasing more information on the death of one of its officers.

Officer Josh Lynaugh, a five-year veteran of the department, died early Saturday after foot pursuit near the 1100 block of Edgerton Street.

According to police, after apprehending a juvenile suspect who was violating curfew, Lynaugh became ill and paramedics were called. They transported him to Regions Hospital where he was treated for a heart attack until he died.

Lynaugh’s father, retired St. Paul Police Sgt. Tim Lynaugh (in the above picture to the left of Josh Lynaugh), thanked the community for the enormous support his family has received and also thanked the Regions Hospital staff.
