MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — This weekend you can help give high school girls the prom of their dreams.
“Operation Glass Slipper” is hosting its annual Princess Event. Pam Phillips, who organizes the event, joined the WCCO Morning Show on Tuesday to tell us what it’s all about.
Prom can be an expensive event with people spending thousands between dresses, dinner and limos. Phillips said “Operation Glass Slipper” provides dresses for girls who can’t afford to go to prom. The dress, purse, jewelry, shoes and other accessories are provided for.
In the past, they’ve held the event at the Mall of America but this year it’s at Southdale in Edina, Minn. on Saturday and Sunday. For students to sign up, they must do it through teachers at their school. Right now about 225 schools are part of the program.
