MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — Brett Knowles scored in overtime as Minnesota State, Mankato beat North Dakota 2-1 Saturday in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association.

Knowles beat Zane Gothberg at 3:22 of the extra period to deny North Dakota a share of the MacNaughton Cup, which goes to the WCHA’s regular season champion.

St. Cloud State and Minnesota will share the title.

Mavericks goalie Stephon Williams allowed Danny Kristo’s goal just 1:03 into the game and nothing after that. He made 30 saves, including three in overtime.

Gothberg made 35 saves for UND.

Dylan Margonari tied the game 1-1 at 19:35 of the second period.

MSUM outshot North Dakota 37-31.
