MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The Eagan Police Department is mourning the loss of one of their own — Police K9 Zebo has died after contracting pneumonia.
The Eagan Police Department said Zebo was being treated for a debilitating intestinal disorder at the Veterinary Medical Center at the University of Minnesota.
While recovering from surgery, he contracted pneumonia which complicated his progress. On March 8, his condition deteriorated and veterinarians concluded he was showing no signs of recovery, according to the police department.
“Due to his suffering and declining health, Zebo was euthanized,” the department stated on its website.
Zebo served with the Eagan Police Department for five years with his partner, Officer Robbe Waller.
The Eagan Police Department said they will use K9 Badger until another dog can be located and trained to replace Zebo.
