MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – In the 10 weeks of this year’s flu season so far, the Minnesota Department of Health says 176 people have died of influenza.

The health department just released numbers from the tenth week of tracking the progression of the flu virus, and said between March 3 and March 9, seven more people have died of laboratory-confirmed influenza.

In the last 10 weeks, 2,945 have been hospitalized with the flu. Thirty-seven were hospitalized during week 10.

One long-term care facilities reported outbreaks of the flu in week ten. Since the start of the season, 148 outbreaks of the flu in long-term care facilities have been reported.
