MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — Dominic Zombo scored the game-winning goal early in the third period as Nebraska-Omaha stayed alive in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs Saturday with a 2-1 win over Minnesota State, Mankato.
The deciding game in the best-of-three series is Sunday.
UNO (19-17-2) snapped a five-game losing streak on Zombo’s goal at 5:21 of the third period. UNO goalie John Faulkner made it stand up with 13 of his 34 saves in the third period.
Matt Leitner scored first midway through the first period for MSUM (23-12-3), but UNO’s Tanner Lane answered four minutes later to tie the game.
Stephon Williams made 25 saves for MSUM, which won Friday’s game 4-3.
