MANKATO, Minn. (AP) — Matt Leitner had a goal and an assist as Minnesota State, Mankato beat Nebraska-Omaha 3-1 Sunday to advance in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs.
Leitner assisted on Bryce Gervais’ goal for a 1-0 lead and added an insurance goal on the power play in the third period.
Max Gaede scored the other goal for MSUM, which got 26 saves from goalie Stephon Williams.
Dominic Zombo’s 12th goal of the season was the only score by UNO (19-18-2), which lost six of its last seven games.
MSUM (24-12-3) won the best-of-three series to move on to the WCHA Final Five.
