Cops: Allegedly Drunk Man Steals Hotel Shuttle, Crashes It

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) -- Charges are pending for an allegedly drunk man who reportedly stole a Bloomington hotel shuttle van in the wee hours of Wednesday morning and crashed it three miles later into a grove of trees, authorities say.

Bloomington police commander Kevin Herman said officers were called to the Quality Inn and Suites at 814 E American Blvd at about 3 a.m. Wednesday about an intoxicated man creating a scene.

Hotel staff members said they asked the man to leave at the same time that the shuttle pulled up. Witnesses said after the driver left the keys in the ignition, the suspect ran out, jumped in and drove away with the van.

Herman said the man drove about three miles before crashing into trees outside the wildlife refuge at American Boulevard East and 34th Avenue. He was arrested on the scene.
