MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities in Prescott, Wis., said they took precautionary measures canceling school activities Thursday after a student received a threatening text message late in the day.

The Prescott Police Department said evening activities at Prescott Senior High School have been canceled and that police stood by as students and staff left the school this afternoon.

There was no direct threat to staff or student safety, police said. Still, activities were canceled.

Police are investigating the threat.
