Iowa Senate Panel To Review Ethics Complaint

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- An Iowa Senate ethics panel is scheduled to meet to review a complaint that a state senator accepted payments from a presidential campaign in 2012.

The panel is set to meet Wednesday to review an affidavit from an Iowa campaign adviser to U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann's presidential campaign. In it, Andy Parrish says the Minnesota congresswoman approved a plan to indirectly pay Republican Sen. Ken Sorenson to work on her 2012 campaign.

Parrish's affidavit includes copies of emails between Parrish and other staffers discussing a plan to have a company run by a Bachmann supporter pay Sorenson, of Milo.

The alleged payments could violate an Iowa Senate ethics ban on paid employment with political campaigns.

Sorenson has denied any wrongdoing.
