ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – Northwestern College is undergoing a transformation during summer break.

The school announced that it was changing its name to University of Northwestern – St. Paul as of July 1. The announcement was set to be made at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

“This change reflects the broad diversity of its educational offerings, the high rigor of its academic programs, and will serve as a foundation for its growing course offerings,” said David Martinson on the school’s behalf.

Along with the name change, the school is also launching a new bachelor’s program in nursing effective May 20.

Northwestern has an enrollment of about 3,200 students.
