Actress To Make National Bow In Guthrie's 'Pride'

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A young actress will make her national debut at the Guthrie Theater opposite Vincent Kartheiser of TV's "Mad Men."

Ashley Rose Montondo has joined the cast of this summer's new production of "Pride and Prejudice."

Montondo assumes the featured role of Elizabeth Bennet following the sudden departure of Erin Krakow.

She will play opposite Kartheiser, a Minneapolis native who will star as the arrogant Mr. Darcy.

Montondo is a 2011 graduate of the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater BFA Actor Training Program. She previously appeared at the Guthrie in 2011 in "Charley's Aunt."

Guthrie head Joe Dowling will direct "Pride and Prejudice." It will mark the 200th anniversary of the publication of Jane Austen's novel.

Previews begin on July 6. "Pride and Prejudice" runs through Aug. 31.
