St. Cloud Hit Hard By Overnight Severe Storms

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials in St. Cloud said Friday they're assessing damage around the city after overnight severe weather hit the area hard.

City officials said Friday so far no injuries or fatalities have been reported. Officials said there are several trees down throughout the city. Parts of the city are also without electricity, including numerous traffic lights, as several power lines are down. Emergency crews have been dispatched throughout the city to assess the damage and get power restored.

City officials are urging the public to be very cautious Friday as they go around town and to stay away from downed power lines and trees.

Officials also said the St. Cloud VA Hospital is open and operating on a routine schedule despite suffering some minor damage from severe weather. The facility is operating on a back-up generator after storms knocked the power out.

Veterans with appointments should still come in unless they've been told otherwise.
