MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Some consider it the next big thing, and it’s going on sale at Best Buy. The Richfield-based retailer of consumer electronics is out with a “smart watch.”
It’s being described as something like a smart phone, only it fits around your wrist.
“It’s more like … see what your smart phone is doing, via your wrist. But yes, it’s very similar,” said Best Buy spokesperson Carly Morris.
Morris says the smart watch uses a Bluetooth connection to alert users to text messages, e-mails and phone calls.
It’s available as part of an exclusive deal with Pebble Technology.
Industry analysts see wearable mobile devices as the next big thing.
This one goes on sale in Best Buy stores on Sunday. It’s already available at Best Buy’s website at a price of $149.99.
