VERMILLION TOWNSHIP, Minn. (WCCO) – A 26-year-old man was critically injured after crashing his all-terrain vehicle in Dakota County Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened at about 5 p.m. in Vermillion Township. Isaac James Lucking was traveling east on 180 Street near Goodwin Avenue when he lost control of the ATV.

Sheriff Dave Bellows said that Lucking was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

He sustained a head injury and was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul by helicopter.

He is currently listed in critical condition.

Here in Minnesota, as is the case across the country, the Fourth of July is one of the deadliest times of the year on the road.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported at least one deadly crash and a half-dozen others where people were hurt.
