OTTERTAIL LAKE, Minn. (WCCO) – A 35-year-old Breckenridge man was transported to the hospital after diving into 3-feet deep of water Thursday afternoon in Ottertail Lake, authorities say.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office said Gene Erickson went unconscious after diving into shallow water. After brought back to shore, Erickson became alert for a moment before his pulse was lost and he stopped breathing.

Bystanders initiated CPR and breathing was restored.

Erickson was airlifted to North Memorial and his current condition is unknown.
