Mpls Officer Bucked Off Horse, But Suffered 'No Major Injuries'

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – After a horse landed on a Minneapolis police officer Wednesday afternoon, authorities tweeted out that the officer suffered "no major injuries" but will be kept in the hospital overnight for observation.

Minneapolis Police spokeswoman Cyndi Barrington said the incident happened at about 1 p.m. Wednesday near the training facility in north Minneapolis, which is at the intersection of 41st Street and Dupont Avenue North. Authorities said a mounted patrol officer was on the horse, got bucked off it and then had the horse land on her.

It is unclear if the incident happened during a training exercise at the facility, Barrington said.

The extent of the officer's injuries are unclear at this point, but the officer has been transported to Hennepin County Medical Center. We'll have more details as they become available.
