MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A man is dead after suffering a gunshot wound overnight, according to police.

Authorities say officers responded to a 911 call of a shooting in the 3400 block of Fremont Avenue North. Upon arrival, officers located a man lying on the sidewalk with an apparent gunshot wound.

Investigators say it appears the victim and the suspect knew each other and the victim was shot during an argument. The suspect then fled the scene.

The man was transported to North Memorial Hospital, where he died during surgery around 6 a.m. Sunday.

Police say this was not a random act.

Investigators are interviewing witnesses. No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call 612-692-TIPS.

The victim’s identity will be released by the medical examiner.
