MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities have arrested a 58-year-old Bemidji man in connection with the hit-and-run crash that killed a 25-year-old man last week.

The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office said Martin Erwin Ubert turned himself into police last Friday and was arrested on Tuesday night. He identified himself to authorities as the man driving the car that hit and killed Christopher Strong on July 31.

Ubert is currently being held in the Beltrami County Jail and is awaiting charges from the county attorney. The sheriff’s office is being assisted in the investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension as well as Red Lake and Leech Lake Tribal Police.
