BURNSVILLE, Minn. (WCCO) – One man is dead and another hurt after an early Tuesday morning shooting in Burnsville, and police are searching for the people responsible.

The shooting took place at 2 a.m. on the 2100 block of East 117th Street at a town home complex, police said, but the victims were found in an SUV at the Eagan Super America gas station off Cliff Road.

Authorities said one man was shot and wounded, the other was shot and killed. The names of the victims, and that of the SUV’s female driver, have yet to be released. Also the condition of the man who was taken to hospital isn’t known.

Police are investigating why the SUV victims took off with the victims after the shooting, in addition to discovering the motivation behind the incident.

Burnsville authorities said anyone with information should call them at 952-322-2323.

For Mara Marin, she awoke on Tuesday to loud booms outside her family’s townhome.

Two men were shot in the parking lot, but when Mara looked out the window, the men were already gone, taken away in an SUV.

“The car was driven by a female that left the scene of where the shooting happened,” Sgt. Rory Bochniak said.

When police found the car, one of the victims was dead.

“Pretty shocking that something like that would happen in Burnsville,” neighbor Jerald Harris said.

One of the bullets struck a car, and the other went through a family’s home just one story below where three children were sleeping.

No one inside the home or the car was hurt.
